Special Education Mentor Program

Your child’s needs are unique. Your support should be, too. Partners in PROMISE’s SPED Mentor program offers up to four hours of free, 1:1 support tailored to your military family’s special education journey.

What is the SPED Mentor Program?

You don’t have to figure out special education alone. Partners in PROMISE’s SPED Mentor Program offers one-on-one support to help military families understand their child’s IEP, prepare for school meetings, and navigate school changes during a PCS. Your mentor helps you make sense of your options and take the next step.

Our mentors are military spouses with lived experience raising children with disabilities and navigating the special education system. Every mentor receives COPAA 1.0 training in special education advocacy. They bring practical knowledge and personal understanding—so you can feel supported, heard, and more confident advocating for your child.

I would like to keep communication open with PIP as we navigate new school systems, etc. We were lost with this move until we talked with PIP and received some great information. Our child has been in excelling in the last 3 weeks since we talked with PIP.
